Pie

So that hidden message in pi isn’t that impressive, but did you know that it says “michael george mcclain is awesome” in there somewhere.
thinking of this, i propose a contest. if someone can find something cooler in code or a funnier math joke then you will have the honour to be the last person to post on this dying blog. have fun.

color (yosefblog contest number 0x4af2)

two johns hopkins astronomers figured out that the average color of the universe is beige. they first thought it was pale green, but then they found out their computers were dumb. anyway it’s an interesting idea, but the wired article is lame. it doesn’t even mention the std deviation, include quantile plots, or anything. useless.

anyway yosefblog contest number 0x4af2 is to come up with a great name for this fine color of our universe. have at it.

Contest proposal

After having come across fan club websites for people you wouldn’t have guessed had a fan club, I decided to propose the following contest:
Yosefblog readers are challenged to create an official fan club for a celebrirty who is unlikely to have one for reasons of not being particularly well-liked etc.

Tips on how to create a fan club can be found here.

The winner would be the yosefblog reader who’s club has the largest membership by the end of the contest. I assume that additional winners could be chosen based on quality of fan-club website and newsletter etc. So, whataya think, big guy?

(ps. I win the yosefblog contest for having the most amount of links in a post)
