microsoft powerpoint crashes [the space shuttle]

Z3-PO recommends: Edward Tufte on how PowerPoint brought down the space shuttle.

This is an amazing piece. Doesn’t everyone know that PowerPoint is only for communicating with people with no intellect? (and even for that it takes a virtuoso like Lawrence Lessig to pull it off with any style)

If you’re not familiar with Tufte, you’re stupid. He’s the world’s greatest mastermind of information visualization and a design genius (his first book, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information has been called “The Strunk & White of visual design”, and he was so picky about printing quality he started his own press to publish it). I would own all of his books, but I’m holding out to see him in person and get them all “free”. I’ve almost bought his Napoleon poster on several occasions.

Don’t come back to my blog until you’ve read his books. Scram!
