sadly enough, i thought the same thing.
now i’m scared to make a snowman for fears that he might come to life and create for me a rather icy and wet grave

you seem to have misunderstood the article. The headline was not “Boy killed by giant snowball monster.” The snowball was giant, yes, but I do not believe that it had “come to life.”
My advice to you, michael, is to not let your fears stop you from doing what you love most. Get right back on that snowman horse and ride again… victoriously… into the sunset! Hazzah!
