Midnight

Here is an interesting question for everybody: Mugwois should not be fed after midnight, right? Is that 12:00, or the halfway through the night time hours? Perhaps yosef can shed some light on the subject. Thanks in advance

i have a plethora of insight about this particular question… as mugwai and gremlin studies was my minor in college. but seeing as i am not a member of this blog, i will, as dovid did, will hand the reigns to big-guy. good day.

jono, if you want posting rights, you’re going to have to win a contest like everyone else (except shais, who still seems to be boycotting - maybe if you kept that up longer, you could have gotten in that way, but now it’s too late).

as for the midnight question. i always assumed the intention was 12:00 midnight exactly. the question i always had, however, was when can you start feeding him again? dawn? sunrise? 10:30am (when you wake up)?

I’ve always had the same question as my older, fuzzier brother. I first came across this question when I was pondering the end of curfew with a few friends, and we later watched the movie Gremlins (the original mind you)
but really, how early can you go out in the morning if you are still of the age where curfew applies. that’s another toughie for the all powerful yosef to answer

Rachmona litzlan, I am not boycotting the blog and I resent the accusation. Just for that, I am now considering REALLY boycotting. But I’ll let you know my decision.

even though the question was posed to yosef, my opinion is clearly 12:00. if it were perhaps two separate words to indicate the middle of the night, maybe mid-night or something, then it would be halfway through the night. and i iz a professional profreader! also, i looked up “Mugwois” on google and the only result returned was yosefblog! how exciting!

Fascinating. But why midnight to sunrise? if the sun is far enough away until sunrise, then the prohibition should start at sunset, right?

Also, if this guy’s theory is right, then “midnight” has very little to do with when the clock strikes midnight. If the problem really is caused by the position of the sun, then the answer to my original question would be that midnight refers to half way through the night time hours.
